Wiley Fowler after being duly sworn says that the Freedman, Charmes has done but little work for two or thre years & for twelve months last has been unable to do any work. Charmes came to where witness was yesterday evening and complained of feeling very strange & having shortness of breath he was not able to lay on a pile of wood for him self for the night, about dark, word was sent to me that he was dead. I went & found the body some thirty yards from his house dead, lying on his right side a little inclined on his belly, his age was about Sixty Eight years.
