Col. Ch. man kept asking him to come out. He said no that he had broke three locks and would be hung & insisted that they wanted to take him but if they would send the balance of the hands up the river he would come out. Col Ches. driver told him he would go to the Devil if he drowned himself. If he only broke a lock it would not hang him. He said he would rather drown than go back to jail.
