[1st witness] D.D. Simpson being sworn says he lives near this place, this morning about 7 oclock or a little later, a little boy (col) on my farm found a man lying near a spring. . .I went and found a colored man about 60 years old lying on a little foot path, seemed to have been dead some little time. [2nd witness] J.H. Downey being duly sworn says he is practicing physician in this county. . .made an examination of the dead body of an unknown man (colored) and found that he has an inflamation of the left arm and hand of a phlegonomous character which in my opinion as an expert was sufficient to cause the Death.
